Current Financial Situation

AFBS Fund Returns at December, 2011

The AFBS RRSP General Fund increased 0.3% for the month of December and increased 0.1% for the year ended December, 2011. The AFBS RRSP Bond Fund increased 1.4% in December and returned 7.4% for the year ended December, 2011.

The AFBS RRIF Bond Fund increased 1.4% for the month of December and returned 7.7% for the year ended December, 2011. The AFBS RRIF Balanced Fund increased 0.3%% for the month of December and returned 0.7% for year ended December, 2011.

The AFBS TFSA General Fund increased 0.5% for the month of December and returned 0.3% for the year ended December, 2011. The AFBS TFSA Bond Fund increased 1.2% for the month of December and returned 5.9% for the year ended December, 2011. Under the TFSA rules, all investment income is tax-free.

Remember, AFBS has one of the lowest fees (Management Expense Ratio or MER at approximately .47%) in Canada, which helps to contribute to our strong long-term returns.

RRSP, TFSA account holders: AFBS fees (all inclusive) at approximately .47% of account balances per annum are among the lowest in Canada (Canadian median for Balanced Funds is 2.58%).

If you invested $10,000 with AFBS over 20 years, the spread between commercial funds and AFBS funds, would be more than $20,000 - something to keep in mind if you are contemplating transferring your account(s) from AFBS to a commercial financial institution.
